Jase Ender was told by numerous scientists that he had been abandoned at birth and had been fortunate enough to be “adopted “by Vita Engineering, when he was a toddler, for genetic and chemical experimentation. The hospital discovered, right after he was born, that he could heat elements in his hands and change their chemical compounds to form other elements. Seen as an incredible asset, Vita Engineering essentially stole him from his mother, and though she sued and tried everything she could to prove her case, was denied. Vita Engineering completely buried the evidence.

Jase’s ability to change coal into diamonds dubbed him Diamond hands by VE scientists. Code named under the same alias, Diamond Hands, Vita Engineering to use him to change coal into diamonds to provide endless company funding. But though Vita Engineering kept him a secret, somehow, information about Jase leaked–that, or all along–his mother had known where he was and what was happening to him.

She had been seeking him for 13 years, and had pinpointed his location in Zoe Dominique. His mother, Alicia Ender, was a history professor and, in secret, the Illusen Mistress, a Hex Mystic Artist, who, as her name applies, could cast elaborate  hexes to entrance people and make them think they were in another place or time as she wished. The White Musketeer and Cashlin Snow helped her rescue her son. United at last, Alicia took Jase with her back Post Haste. She watches him carefully, though allows him to interact with The Libertas League on a limited basis.
